All those DROID Incredible owners may take some happiness in this post as it seems an HTC staffer let the word out that the DROID Incredible may be receiving the Gingerbread update sometime towards the end of Q2 2011. That’s got to make you feel better about buying one right? The email from the HTC rep is as follows;

Dear Thomas,
I will be happy to assist with your software update inquiry. Indeed the Incredible is going to get 2.3 Gingerbread and we expect to be ready to release it with Verizon before the end of the second quarter of this year.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW14ENA000091.
Sincerely,
Douglas
HTC

All that said, it would be nice to hear an official word from HTC about this as words may be spoken, but action is much nicer.

If you are a Verizon user who has been anxiously attempting to decide between the HTC Thunderbolt and the LG Revolution, the plot just got a bit thicker, as images have surfaced of the HTC Incredible S wearing the Verizon logo. While we did see some previously leaked information about this device heading Verizon’s way, this confirmation is certainly more official, and great news for anyone who currently loves their Droid Incredible.

You will notice this device certainly looks just like the HTC Incredible S, which we went hands on with at MWC, only difference appears to be the branding. We hope to hear some more information about the release of this device in the coming weeks, and our fingers are crossed that it won’t have the same stocking issues the original had.
For those of you who just can’t wait to get that maintenance update for the HTC Droid Incredible, we’ve got the download location and instructions. It’s all on the up and up, it’s just that you’re manually applying the update instead of waiting on it. It’s the exact same update. Here you go:

Grab the OTA file here from the Android Central Forums.

Make sure it’s named update.zip

Copy it to the root (base directory) of your SD card. Don’t put it in any folders, and don’t put it on the internal memory.

Shut your phone off

While holding the volume down button, turn the phone back on.

In the white Bootloader screen, select recovery from the list.

In the recovery screen (the triangle with exclamation mark), press volume up and power. You’ll go to the recovery menu.

In the recovery menu, select “apply sdcard:update.zip”

The phone will find the file, and when finished prompt you to reboot. Reboot via the menu, then patiently wait for the phone to reboot, and enjoy.

A reminder that if you’re rooted, this’ll break it. Need more help? Find it in our Droid Incredible Forums.

Famed Verizon tweeter @black_man_x is dropping some serious hints about the anticipated Droid Incredible HD, implying that it may be compatible with Verizon’s forthcoming LTE network.

We brought you a story a few weeks ago about an LG LTE device headed to Verizon, which was rumored to have been seen carried by Verizon’s CFO. Perhaps it wasn’t an LG device that was spotted, but instead the Incredible HD.

We’re not sure what is meant by “almost HD”, but really we can’t hold any of this accountable until some kind of announcement is made by Big Red. We’ll be following this one closely, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Is the HTC Droid Incredible HD going to be a Verizon LTE phone?

Verizon Wireless has opened a new portal where customers can trade in their old used cell phones in exchange for Verizon Wireless gift cards. Customers go to the web site and provide information about their device. Verizon then calculates an offer for the phone. The original Motorola Droid, for example, was valued at only &52 , despite being in good shape, while an HTC Droid Incredible garnered $152 in trade-in value. Once customers accept the terms, Verizon sends a package in which the phone is to be shipped to Verizon. The gift card can be used as cash at Verizon Wireless stores.

The HTC Droid Incredible finally has been rooted by the guys over at Unrevoked. Using the painless Unrevoked3 tool, that can be downloaded from their site, you can finally set your Droid Incredible free. Before you can install the mod make sure you have all of the drivers for your phone so there are no issues.

As always with altering your phone there is the chance something can go wrong. Take your time and be careful. We accept no liability for anyone who damages or bricks their phone from modding it.
